Bernardo Silva has announced he will depart Manchester City this summer, closing a nine-year stay that brought 19 major trophies.

The 31-year-old midfielder, appointed club captain at the start of the campaign, joined from Monaco in 2017 and has since made 451 appearances under Pep Guardiola – more than any other player during the Catalan’s reign.

During his time at the Etihad Stadium, Silva collected six Premier League winner’s medals, two FA Cups, five League Cups, the Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup. He also scored 76 goals and provided 77 assists.

In a farewell message, Silva told supporters: “This city and this club gave me far more than I ever dreamed. I arrived as a player and I leave as one of you – a City fan forever.”

Manchester City will stage an official send-off for the Portugal international before he leaves.
