Key Takeaways

  • Spurs sit second-bottom and still seek their first 2026 league win.
  • De Zerbi calls the Wolves match “must-win” but will not scare his players.
  • James Maddison travels yet remains out, while Udogie, Sarr and Vicario also miss the game.

Roberto De Zerbi insists he will not scare his Tottenham squad even though Saturday’s trip to Wolves already looks like a relegation cup-final.

Spurs start the weekend two points from safety, without a single league victory since last December. A first point under the Italian came last Monday in a 2-2 home draw with Brighton, but that was only enough to lift them off the foot of the table on goal difference.

“I don’t want to put extra pressure on heads,” De Zerbi told reporters on Friday. “Still, we must look at the table and be honest: we need wins. If we take three points at Wolves, the job is not finished. We will have four games left.”

Wolves were sent down two weeks ago, yet the coach warned they remain dangerous. “They have beaten Aston Villa and Liverpool at home and drawn with Arsenal. When a team plays with freedom, it can hurt you.”

Injuries keep hurting Tottenham. Left-back Destiny Udogie, midfielder Pape Sarr and goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario will not board the coach to the Midlands. Captain Cristian Romero, Mohamed Kudus and Dejan Kulusevski are also in the treatment room.

James Maddison, out for a year after an anterior-cruciate-ligament tear, returned to the bench against Brighton but felt sore after training. “He is not ready to play,” De Zerbi said. “He will travel because his energy is important for the group.”

Young right-back Djed Spence and Brazilian defender Souza are set to start. Antonin Kinsky continues in goal while Vicario targets a return to full training on Monday.

Off the pitch, Spurs will warm up in “Spurs Against Racism” tees after centre-back Kevin Danso received online abuse last weekend. The club have passed details to police and had several accounts removed. De Zerbi added: “Kevin was excellent versus Brighton. We judge players by heart and attitude, not one mistake. He will be here next season.”

Kick-off at Molineux is 3 pm Kenyan time. Highlights will be available on the league’s official app soon after full-time.
