Manchester City will play in a fourth straight FA Cup final after substitute Nico González lashed home an 87th-minute winner to sink brave Southampton 2-1 at Wembley.
The Championship side led through Finn Azaz’s stunning 79th-minute curler, but Jérémy Doku levelled three minutes later before González’s 30-yard rocket completed a dramatic turnaround.
Southampton, unbeaten in 20 games, had earlier seen Léo Scienza’s goal ruled out for offside and pushed City all the way, dominating possession and forcing Pep Guardiola to throw on big guns Erling Haaland, Bernardo Silva and Doku.
Guardiola’s changes paid off. Doku drove in a deflected equaliser and, with extra-time looming, González collected a short pass, took aim from distance and sent a rising shot beyond keeper Daniel Peretz.
Seven minutes of stoppage-time brought more chances at both ends, but referee Craig Pawson’s final whistle sparked sky-blue celebrations and left Southampton to focus on Tuesday’s promotion clash with Ipswich.
City now await the winners of Sunday’s second semi-final between Chelsea and Leeds, as they target a fourth consecutive FA Cup triumph next month.
