Key Takeaways

  • Moise Kean will miss the trip to Rome because of a family emergency between May 1 and May 4.
  • The Florence club face AS Roma with no fit strikers due to an ongoing injury crisis.
  • Coach Raffaele Palladino may use Albert Gudmundsson as a False 9 to solve the attacking shortage.

ACF Fiorentina have confirmed that forward Moise Kean will not travel for Monday’s Serie A match against AS Roma. The Italy international needs to attend to a personal family matter immediately.

The club released a statement explaining that Kean will return to training at Viola Park on the morning of May 5. However, the striker was already unlikely to feature because of a long-standing fibula problem that has troubled him for several months.

This absence creates a major headache for manager Raffaele Palladino. Roberto Piccoli, the only other recognised centre-forward, suffered an adductor strain during the recent match against Sassuolo. He remains doubtful for the trip to the capital.

The injury list grows longer. Wing-backs Robin Gosens and Fabiano Parisi are only taking part in partial training sessions. Meanwhile, defenders Niccolò Fortini and Tariq Lamptey are definitely ruled out.

Fiorentina have not yet secured their place in next season’s Serie A. They sit dangerously close to the relegation zone without a guaranteed safety margin.

The match kicks off at the Stadio Olimpico on Monday evening at 19:45 UK time (20:45 local time). Palladino may need to play midfielder Albert Gudmundsson in a False 9 role to solve his attacking crisis.
