Olympique de Marseille have been dealt a major setback ahead of their final fixtures. The French club will be without attacker Hamed Junior Traoré for the remainder of the current term. The 26-year-old sustained the blow during Saturday’s away trip to FC Nantes.
The Abidjan-born star left the pitch on a stretcher as his side fell to a 3-0 defeat. Medical tests later confirmed damage to his right adductor muscle. This diagnosis means the Ivory Coast international cannot feature in any more matches this campaign.
Traoré will now miss the visit to Le Havre and the final day clash with Stade Rennais. These fixtures mark the conclusion of the Ligue 1 season for Marseille. The absence comes at a crucial time for the club.
The current season has been difficult for the forward. Fitness troubles have limited his impact throughout the term. Despite these challenges, he has contributed three goals and two assists in 19 outings. Ten of those appearances came from the starting eleven.
The player joined from AFC Bournemouth on a temporary basis last summer. However, his contract included an automatic purchase clause. This triggered after his debut appearance, securing his services until 2030. The permanent transfer makes this injury particularly costly for the club.
