FC Barcelona are hunting for a new number nine ahead of next season. The Spanish side must find a successor for veteran forward Robert Lewandowski. Their top target is Julian Alvarez, but securing his signature appears difficult and expensive. This forces the club to explore younger, more affordable alternatives.

One exciting option is Junior Kroupi. The 19-year-old Frenchman currently leads the line for AFC Bournemouth. Sky Sports has now confirmed Barcelona’s interest, backing up earlier reports from Diario Madridista. The broadcasting giant states that scouts from the Camp Nou have watched the teenager extensively in recent months.

Kroupi has enjoyed a remarkable debut campaign in the English top flight. He has netted 12 times across 32 appearances, despite starting only 20 matches. This record averages out at one goal every 134 minutes. The striker primarily operates through the centre, though he can also feature on the left flank.

The teenager moved to the south coast from Lorient around 18 months ago. That transfer cost Bournemouth €13 million. He spent the remainder of last season on loan back in France, where he fired 23 goals in 32 Ligue 2 outings. At international level, Kroupi has earned five caps for France’s under-21 side, scoring three goals.

However, the Cherries have no intention of selling their prized asset this summer. Manchester City also remain keen on securing his services. Barcelona likely view Kroupi as a future project rather than an immediate fix. Asking a 19-year-old to carry their Champions League hopes next term would be a massive gamble.
