Angry supporters of AC Milan have started a formal petition calling for the club to dismiss Chief Executive Giorgio Furlani. They say he is responsible for the team’s unclear strategy in the transfer market.
Last summer, experts suggested the club should appoint a sporting director such as Igli Tare. This would have brought clear structure to player recruitment and contract talks. However, reports indicate that Furlani still makes the final decisions. This has slowed down operations and left the head coach with players who do not fit his tactical system.
Furlani works closely with the club’s owner, Gerry Cardinale. Because fans cannot direct their anger at the American businessman, they have focused their frustration on the Chief Executive instead.
Comments on the club’s official X account now demand Furlani’s removal. Some supporters have created an online petition which has already attracted thousands of signatures.
Furlani joined the board of directors in 2018. He became Chief Executive in November 2022.
The Rossoneri were competing for the Serie A title just one month ago. However, they have collapsed recently, earning only seven points from their last seven league matches. Now, even a top-four finish and qualification for the Champions League is in danger.
