- The Lazio boss faces an uncertain future at the Stadio Olimpico
Italian reports say Maurizio Sarri could become Napoli’s new manager. The Lazio boss is the favourite to replace Antonio Conte for the 2026-27 season.
Football expert Alfredo Pedullà claims Sarri leads the list of candidates. This only happens if Conte leaves the club next year.
Conte currently has a contract with Napoli. However, his future is not certain. Club president Aurelio De Laurentiis will meet Conte in the coming weeks. They will decide if the manager stays.
Pedullà wrote on X that many sources confirm Sarri is Napoli’s “top name”.
Sarri returned to Lazio last summer. He has faced problems this season. The team could not buy new players at the start of the campaign. This transfer embargo made his job difficult.
The 67-year-old previously coached Napoli from 2015 to 2018. He won 98 games out of 148 during that time. His team finished with 91 points in his last season. They almost won the league title.
