Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen are preparing a move for Burnley centre-back Maxime Esteve. The 23-year-old has caught the attention of the German club following an impressive season in English football.
The French defender only became a permanent Burnley player in 2024. He initially arrived on loan from Montpellier HSC last year. The club decided to keep him after a strong start, but their relegation from the Premier League has forced a rethink.
Sky Sports claims Burnley are ready to discuss offers this summer. The Championship side needs to reduce their wage bill after dropping out of the top flight.
Leverkusen face competition for his signature. Two unnamed Premier League teams are also interested. Tottenham Hotspur have previously made enquiries about the former France youth international.
Esteve has been a crucial player for Burnley under former boss Scott Parker. He missed only three Premier League matches this term, starting 35 games in total.
