Udinese Calcio has strongly condemned alleged racist abuse targeting their striker Keinan Davis. The Italian club claims a Cagliari player directed shameful insults at the English forward during Saturday’s Serie A fixture in Sardinia.
The incident sparked tension during the final stages of the match at the Unipol Domus. Udinese released an official statement promising to defend Davis and calling for a swift investigation by sporting authorities.
“The Club reaffirms its strong condemnation for similar deplorable acts,” the statement read. “These actions gravely damage the image and values of the sport that we love. Udinese Calcio will defend Keinan in every way.”
Teammate Nicolò Zaniolo also reacted angrily on social media. The Italian midfielder posted on Instagram Stories criticising the alleged perpetrator without naming him directly.
“The colleague who today dared to insult my children and insult my teammate purely for the colour of his skin ought to be ashamed,” Zaniolo wrote. “He should never again set foot on a football pitch.”
Meanwhile, Cagliari manager Fabio Pisacane addressed the controversy after the game. He confirmed that he spoke directly with defender Alberto Dossena about the claims. Pisacane stated that Dossena assured him he would “never do such a thing” and denied making any racist comments.
Udinese has expressed full faith in the sporting justice system to resolve the matter. The club hopes for a rapid definition of what happened as they stand firmly behind their player.
