Barcelona teenage sensation Lamine Yamal has used social media to mock Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham. The Spain international posted a message on Instagram shortly after Barcelona defeated their rivals to win the La Liga title.
The Catalan giants secured a 2-0 victory against Los Blancos at Camp Nou on Sunday evening. Marcus Rashford and Ferran Torres scored the goals that clinched the championship. This marked the first time in history that Barcelona have won the Spanish league title by beating Real Madrid at their home stadium.
Yamal, who is currently injured, shared a video on his Instagram story showing him celebrating Torres’ goal from the stands. The 18-year-old added the caption “talk is cheap” together with several crying face emojis. His teammate Gavi then shared the post on his own account.
This message refers back to Bellingham’s own social media post from October. The England star wrote “Talk is cheap, Hala Madrid always” after Real Madrid won the first El Clasico of the season 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu. Many fans believed Bellingham’s words were aimed at Yamal.
The rivalry between the two young stars began before that first match. Yamal had accused Real Madrid of “robbing” games to win matches. Bellingham scored in that October victory, which made his post more significant.
Barcelona have enjoyed a successful campaign against their rivals this term. They have now won both the Spanish Super Cup and the La Liga title. These victories came in direct competition with Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid face an uncertain future. Reports suggest Jose Mourinho has made demands to take over as manager. Club president Florentino Perez is reportedly ready to make key decisions regarding the coaching position. Additionally, senior players in the dressing room have requested the exit of a star midfielder.
Yamal is recovering from a hamstring problem. He hopes to return to action before the World Cup begins. The winger watched Sunday’s match from the sidelines but clearly enjoyed the victory.
