  • PSG secured a 1-0 victory over Stade Brestois at Parc des Princes on Sunday
  • The win creates a six-point lead at the top of the table with just two fixtures remaining
  • RC Lens remain the only club capable of catching the Parisian side
  • Luis Enrique insists the title race is effectively over ahead of the Champions League final
  • The Spanish coach praised Lens for their incredible performance throughout the season

Paris Saint-Germain moved to the brink of a fifth consecutive Ligue 1 title following a hard-fought win against Stade Brestois. The match finished 1-0 in favour of the home team on Sunday evening.

This result leaves PSG six points clear at the top of the standings. Only two games remain in the current campaign. RC Lens occupy second place and are the sole challengers left.

The two sides will meet in midweek. A victory for Lens would reduce the gap to three points before the final weekend. On the last day, PSG face Paris FC while Lens host Olympique Lyonnais.

However, the goal difference stands at 15 in favour of PSG. Even if the leaders lose both remaining matches and Lens win both of theirs, the goal difference is too large to overcome.

Manager Luis Enrique spoke with confidence after the match. “I think we needed these points. I think we are already champions. This will be enough,” he stated. He added that this position allows the team to prepare individually for the final two league games before turning full attention to the Champions League final against Arsenal.

The Spanish coach also offered praise to RC Lens. He noted that they have performed at an incredible level this season and have made life very difficult for his players.
