Daniel Wafula netted a dramatic goal in the final seconds of the match. His strike gave Mara Sugar a 1-0 win against Shabana. The FKF Premier League fixture took place at Awendo Green Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Shabana, also known as Tore Bobe, needed three points to move past Nairobi United into fourth place. They hoped to finish the 2025/26 season in a strong position. However, their plans collapsed in the fifth minute of added time when Wafula scored the only goal of the game.
This defeat was particularly painful for the Glamorous Boys. It marked the third time Mara Sugar have beaten them in their last four meetings.
Both teams found it difficult to break down the opposition’s defence during the first ninety minutes. The match remained goalless until the very end.
The result pushes Francis Xavier’s team up the league table. Mara Sugar now sit in eighth place with 43 points from 31 games played.
Meanwhile, pressure mounts on Shabana’s manager Osbourne Monday. He joined the club from Murang’a Seal last month but has struggled to find form. The coach has only managed one victory since taking charge. That win came against Kakamega Homeboyz at Gusii Stadium. Since then, his team has drawn twice and lost once. They have failed to score in their last three matches.
