  • Eintracht Frankfurt chief Markus Krösche calls decision “incomprehensible”
  • Larsson has played 34 matches this season for the German club
  • The 21-year-old midfielder has 12 caps for Sweden

Sweden revealed their World Cup squad on Tuesday. Many fans were shocked to see that Hugo Larsson was not included.

Markus Krösche, who handles sporting matters at Eintracht Frankfurt, responded on Wednesday morning. He published his comments on the club’s official site. The board member directed his words at Sweden manager Graham Potter.

Krösche said the choice cannot be justified from a football standpoint. He praised Larsson’s progress at the top level and his regular displays for the team. The director called the 21-year-old one of the most important members of their squad.

The club official noted that Larsson has taken part in 34 matches this campaign. He warned that overlooking such form sends a poor message to hard-working professionals.

Krösche insisted that Larsson earned his place in the squad. He described the omission as both impossible to understand and incorrect.

The midfielder is 21 years old. He has represented Sweden 12 times at senior level. He sat on the bench for World Cup playoff games against Ukraine and Poland in March. He did not get on the pitch in either match.
