Monaco will not compete in next season’s Champions League after confirmation earlier this week. French publication L’Équipe reports that this failure places Sébastien Pocognoli’s job under threat ahead of the summer.

The Principality club still have one match remaining. They face RC Strasbourg Alsace in their final league fixture. A victory could see them overtake Olympique de Marseille to claim sixth position. This would secure qualification for the UEFA Europa League.

Speaking to reporters, including those from Get French Football News, the manager addressed speculation about his future. He confirmed he has received no contact from club officials regarding his position. The coach intends to finish the campaign according to his own methods.

“I am keeping my focus on the squad and my staff,” he explained. “Questions about my future can wait until afterwards. The most important thing is to have a clear vision and follow it. In football, a strong structure often makes the difference. I believe we can use many things from this season to improve.”

The 36-year-old expressed hope that the club will support a long-term project. When asked if he wishes to stay, he replied positively. He admitted surprise at the question and stated he has thoroughly enjoyed the campaign. Building a stable foundation remains his priority.

Pocognoli took charge at the Stade Louis II in October following the departure of Adi Hütter.
