Bayern Munich star Manuel Neuer could return to play for Germany. The 40-year-old goalkeeper stopped playing for his country after Euro 2024. Now, he might play at the World Cup this summer.

Sky Germany reports that Neuer is on a list of 55 players. The German Football Association sent this list to FIFA by Monday. This is the provisional squad for the tournament.

Neuer recently spoke with Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann. They discussed the goalkeeper coming back to the national team. Neuer has said “no” to these rumours before. However, the talks show he might change his mind.

Nagelsmann must make his final decision soon. He will name his official squad on 21 May.

Oliver Baumann from Hoffenheim has been Germany’s main goalkeeper since Neuer left. But Baumann could lose his place now. Marc-André ter Stegen from Barcelona is injured. He has had many fitness problems in recent years. This means Germany needs an experienced keeper like Neuer.
