Inter Milan have set their sights on a stunning move for Manchester City attacker Phil Foden. The Italian champions are searching for a new creative spark after accepting defeat in their chase for Nico Paz.
Italian journalist Paolo Condò claims the England international could swap the Premier League for Serie A. The Sky Sport pundit believes Foden might welcome a fresh challenge abroad.
The Nerazzurri had earmarked Paz as their perfect attacking midfield option. The Argentine currently plays for Como but belongs to Real Madrid. Los Blancos plan to trigger their buy-back clause, making any deal impossible for Inter.
Condò told Sky Sport 24 that Foden represents a viable Plan B. The 24-year-old has found game time harder to come by at the Etihad Stadium this campaign. Personal issues may have contributed to his reduced role under Pep Guardiola.
“Foden has had less space at City this year, perhaps due to some issues off the pitch,” Condò explained. “A serious and interesting proposal could tempt him to try Italy.”
Foden’s contract with the Treble winners runs until June 2027. This leaves only one year on his current deal after this season ends. Despite his world-class ability, Condò admits the transfer faces huge obstacles. The chances of Foden leaving English football remain slim.
The broadcaster also ruled out a move for Paulo Dybala. The Roma forward’s contract expires next month, but Condò rejected this link. He argued that Inter need long-term reliability, which the injury-plagued Argentine cannot promise.
