FC Barcelona are planning to buy a new left winger this summer. The Catalan giants do not expect Marcus Rashford to stay at the club on a permanent basis. Because of this, they are looking at different options to fill the position.
One of their main targets is Alberto Moleiro. The 22-year-old currently plays for Villarreal. Barcelona have watched his progress for many years. They tried to sign him when he played for Las Palmas. Now they are interested again after his strong performances at his new club.
Moleiro has enjoyed an excellent debut season at La Ceramica. He has found the back of the net 10 times and provided five assists. These numbers have impressed the Barcelona scouts.
According to recent reports, Barcelona officials recently spoke with Moleiro’s agent. They wanted to check if a transfer could happen now or in the future. The player is a well-known supporter of Barcelona. He has stated publicly that he dreams of wearing the famous Blaugrana shirt one day.
Villarreal are not keen to sell one of their best players. However, they have a special agreement with Moleiro. If Barcelona decide to make a formal offer, the Yellow Submarine will accept a fee lower than the €50 million release clause. Other clubs would need to pay the full amount.
Barcelona have other plans for their transfer budget first. They want to sign a centre-back and a striker before they focus on a winger. For this reason, any move for Moleiro might not happen until the summer of 2027 at the earliest.
