Gor Mahia stand on the brink of glory following a 3-1 victory against Murang’a Seal on Sunday afternoon. The hosts delivered a commanding performance at Nyayo Stadium to edge closer to a record 22nd league crown.

The Green Army opened the scoring after 18 minutes. Samuel Kapen found the back of the net to give K’Ogalo an early advantage on the pitch. However, the visitors fought back strongly before the break. Joe Waithira levelled the scores in the 36th minute, sending the teams into halftime with the match finely poised.

Tension remained high among the home supporters during the interval. Their bitter rivals, AFC Leopards, had reduced the deficit at the top of the table to a single point the previous day. Ingwe claimed a 2-1 win over Kakamega Homeboyz on Saturday to keep the title race alive.

The decisive moment arrived six minutes after the restart. Kapen launched a long throw into the danger area, and the ball fell kindly to Shariff Musa. The midfielder struck it first time into the bottom corner to restore Gor Mahia’s lead in the 51st minute. Substitute Ebenezer Assifuah then removed any doubt about the result when he added a third goal with 13 minutes remaining.

Charles Akonnor’s charges now control their own destiny. A win against Mara Sugar next Saturday will confirm them as champions regardless of other results.
