Benni McCarthy has announced his squad for Kenya’s upcoming international matches. The Harambee Stars coach named 24 players for the friendly clashes against Kyrgyzstan and Palestine next month.
The South African has brought in several new faces from European leagues. Caleb Kramer, a goalkeeper based in the Netherlands, earns his first senior appearance. He joins British defenders Deon Woodman and Micah Obiero, who both play for Wealdstone. Sydney Agina from Stoke City and Hull City’s Sammy Hena-Kamau also receive debut invitations.
Stanley Wilson is another fresh addition to the group. The defender previously represented Kenya’s under-20 team at the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt. He currently plays for AIK in Sweden and has impressed scouts with his recent displays.
Two players return after strong performances in March. Zech Obiero from Leyton Orient and Lawrence Okoth, who plays in Finland, featured in the Fifa Global Series in Rwanda. Obiero provided one assist against Estonia and found the net in the 3-0 victory over Grenada.
Up front, Ryan Ogam is likely to start as the main striker. The forward, who plays in Austria, scored in both matches during the previous international break against Estonia and Grenada.
Kenya will travel to Bishkek for both fixtures. They meet Kyrgyzstan first, then face Palestine three days later at the same stadium.
