Valentín Barco has confirmed he will leave RC Strasbourg Alsace. The Argentinian midfielder made the announcement on Instagram. His 18-month spell at the French club is now ending.

The 21-year-old initially joined Strasbourg on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion in January 2025. The club signed him permanently the following summer. The transfer fee was reportedly €10 million.

Barco played 43 matches for Strasbourg in all competitions. He scored three goals and provided nine assists. He became a key figure in the team’s midfield during his time at the Stade de la Meinau.

His impressive form earned him a recall to the Argentina national team. He will compete at the FIFA World Cup this summer. After the tournament finishes, he will not return to France.

The player posted an emotional farewell message on social media. He thanked the club and supporters for their backing. He revealed that his daughter was born during his stay in Strasbourg. He described this as the highlight of his time with Le Racing.

Barco’s contract with the French side runs until 2029. However, he is now set to join Chelsea. The Premier League club are close to completing the deal. According to L’Équipe, an agreement between the parties is nearly finalised.
