The 21-year-old thanked fans for their support during his 18-month stay. He described the birth of his daughter as his happiest moment there. Barco promised to return to the city with his family in future.
Chelsea Football Club will sign the left-sided player. The London side and Strasbourg both operate under BlueCo ownership. This relationship makes the transfer straightforward.
Recent doubts surrounded the deal. Liam Rosenior recently left his coaching role at Chelsea. He had previously managed Barco in France. However, incoming boss Xabi Alonso has not blocked the move.
French publication L’Équipe reports the transfer will cost at least €20 million. This represents double the fee Strasbourg paid last summer. Barco will likely commit to a six-year deal at the Premier League club.
