The German Football Association (DFB) is sending a powerful delegation to Istanbul this week. Association president Bernd Neuendorf will travel to Turkey to watch the Europa League showdown. He wants to show support for SC Freiburg.

Germany national team coach Julian Nagelsmann will also attend the match. He joins sporting director Rudi Völler on the trip. Managing director Andreas Rettig and general secretary Holger Blask complete the travelling party.

Freiburg meet English side Aston Villa at Beşiktaş Stadium on Wednesday night. The Bundesliga team has never before reached a European final. This clash marks a historic moment for the club.

The game holds special meaning for centre-back Matthias Ginter. The defender hopes to catch Nagelsmann’s eye. Germany will name their World Cup squad on Thursday at the DFB campus in Frankfurt.
