The draw for the FIFA Under-17 World Cup took place today in Doha, revealing the opponents for Italy’s young Azzurrini side. The European nation will compete against Jamaica, Ivory Coast and Uzbekistan during the group phase of the competition.

This year’s tournament marks the eighth appearance for Italy at this level. The event runs from 19 November until 13 December in Qatar. The Italian youngsters qualified for this global showpiece after strong performances in their continental campaign.

Before travelling to the Middle East, the squad will first compete in the European Under-17 Championship final tournament. This competition takes place in Estonia between 25 May and 7 June. Success there could provide vital momentum for the World Cup.

Italy’s opening match comes on 20 November against Jamaica. They then face Ivory Coast three days later on 23 November. The group stage concludes on 26 November with a clash against Uzbekistan. These fixtures form Group E of the competition.

The Italians hope to surpass their achievement from the previous edition. In 2025, they captured the bronze medal after defeating Brazil in a penalty shootout. This time, they aim to reach the final, which takes place on 13 December.

The qualification format allows the top two teams from each group to advance. Additionally, the eight best third-placed teams across all groups will also progress to the Round of 16. This gives Italy multiple pathways to reach the knockout stages.

Italy have previously competed in this tournament in 1991, 1993, 2005, 2009, 2013, 2019 and 2025. The 2026 edition represents their eighth participation at this youth level.
