SC Freiburg suffered a painful 3-0 defeat against Aston Villa in the Europa League final this week. Despite the heavy loss, young midfielder Johan Manzambi stood out as one of the team’s best performers during the match.

Following the final whistle, the Swiss international spoke to German newspaper Bild. When reporters asked if he had just played his last game for the Bundesliga side, the 20-year-old failed to give a clear answer about his next move.

“I really cannot say right now. My deal with the club lasts until 2030, but anything can happen. We must wait and see,” explained Manzambi. The talented star will soon join the Switzerland squad for the World Cup. He added, “My mind is on the tournament now. I will think about my club career after that.”

Manzambi enjoyed an excellent campaign for Freiburg throughout the 2025/26 term. He featured in 47 matches across all competitions, finding the net seven times and setting up nine goals for his teammates.
