Belgian winger Diego Moreira is closing in on a move to Borussia Dortmund. The 21-year-old has settled on personal terms with the German club. This comes as his current team, RC Strasbourg Alsace, prepares for major changes this summer.
L’Equipe reported earlier this week that Strasbourg plans to sell several key players. Moreira is one of those the French side is willing to let go. He joined the club from Chelsea and has spent two full seasons at the Meinau Stadium.
The young Belgian was a key player for both Liam Rosenior and later Gary O’Neil. He played 42 matches in all competitions during the recent campaign. Moreira found the net five times and set up nine goals for his team-mates.
Strasbourg now want to make money from his sale. They have set an asking price of €38 million. There could be another €5 million in add-ons. This makes the total deal worth €43 million.
Other clubs are also interested in the player. Stade Rennais tried to sign him. However, Moreira wants to play in the Bundesliga. He has already agreed on terms with Dortmund.
A move back to Chelsea does not look likely. The Premier League club sold him to Strasbourg previously. Now the French club hopes to complete the sale to Dortmund soon.
