FC Barcelona closed their La Liga campaign with a defeat at Mestalla, despite a goal from departing striker Robert Lewandowski in his final appearance for the club. The Polish forward, who is set to leave the Catalan giants this summer, gave his side the lead in the second half. However, Valencia CF fought back strongly to claim all three points.

The visitors started the match with little pressure, having already secured the league title. Valencia, meanwhile, entered the clash with nerves visible, knowing they needed a win to keep their hopes of qualifying for next season’s UEFA Conference League alive.

The deadlock broke in the 61st minute. Ferran Torres fired a shot towards goal, and Lewandowski guided the ball into the net. This moment provided a perfect send-off for the striker, who had failed to score during his final appearance at the Spotify Camp Nou earlier in the week.

The lead lasted only a short time. Valencia found an equaliser through Javi Guerra, who punished a mistake by Barcelona substitute Xavi Espart. The error allowed Guerra to level the score and energise the home supporters.

Ten minutes later, Valencia completed the turnaround. Luis Rioja received the ball at the edge of the penalty area and placed a calm finish past stand-in goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny. This strike gave Valencia a 2-1 advantage they held until the final whistle.

The result keeps Valencia’s European dreams alive, while Barcelona end their successful season with a loss on the road.
