C.A. Osasuna have parted ways with head coach Alessio Lisci merely 48 hours after confirming their top-flight survival. The club announced the decision on Monday evening, cutting short the Italian’s tenure at El Sadar after just twelve months.

Lisci arrived from Mirandes with high hopes last year. However, his side struggled for consistency throughout the 2025-26 campaign. With five matches left to play, the team still had a chance to qualify for European competitions. Nevertheless, a disastrous sequence of five consecutive losses dragged them into a desperate fight against the drop.

Los Rojillos finished the season in 17th position with 42 points. They avoided relegation only because of a superior head-to-head record against their rivals. During his time at the club, Lisci took charge of 42 matches. He won 14 of them, drew nine and lost 19. His team found the net 63 times but conceded 61 goals.

The club released a statement on social media thanking the 40-year-old for his dedication. They praised his respectful treatment of supporters and staff during a difficult year.

This marks the first dismissal made by Sporting Director Braulio Vazquez since he took up his role. Previous managers Jagoba Arrasate and Vicente Moreno both departed at the end of their contracts. Lisci still had one year remaining on his deal.

The Pamplona-based side now faces another hunt for a new boss. This will be their fourth managerial appointment in just three years. Strikers Ante Budimir and Victor Munoz enjoyed productive seasons in attack, but the defence lacked the solidity shown in previous years. Lisci admitted before the final fixture that he never expected his team to be involved in a relegation battle.
