AC Milan are accelerating their search for a new head coach. Club owner Gerry Cardinale and football advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic will travel to London for another face-to-face meeting with Andoni Iraola. This follows their first discussion with the former Bournemouth manager on May 15.

The Serie A giants want to move quickly. They face strong competition from Crystal Palace, who also hope to secure the Spaniard’s services. Milan have prepared a contract offer that would run for two or three years. The deal is worth over €3 million per season, with extra payments if the team reaches the Champions League.

While working on the coaching appointment, Cardinale and Ibrahimovic also visited Vienna. They spoke with Ralf Rangnick about taking up the sporting director role at the San Siro. Rangnick had a difficult spell in charge of Manchester United during the 2021-22 campaign. However, he has rebuilt his reputation by guiding Austria to both Euro 2024 and the World Cup.

Other candidates linked to the director of football position include former Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre and ex-Atalanta recruitment head Lee Congerton. Milan hope to finalise their backroom structure before the summer transfer window opens.
