Angers SCO have set their sights on veteran goalkeeper Anthony Lopes. The 35-year-old shot-stopper will leave FC Nantes when his contract expires at the end of June.

The French club sees Lopes as the perfect man to fill the gap left by Hervé Koffi. The Burkina Faso international has impressed during his loan spell from RC Lens. However, he must return to his parent club next month.

Ligue 2 champions ESTAC Troyes also want to secure the Portuguese keeper’s signature. They earned promotion to France’s top flight and need experienced players for the battles ahead.

The former Olympique Lyonnais star prefers to remain in western France. Angers offers him this chance. The city lies close to Nantes, where he has settled with his family.

Despite FC Nantes suffering relegation to the second division, Lopes showed excellent individual form. He started every league match this campaign. He wore the captain’s armband in 17 of those games. The keeper recorded six clean sheets but let in 51 goals across the difficult season.
