Real Madrid are searching for a new midfielder this summer. The Spanish club have set their sights on Chelsea star Enzo Fernández.

The Argentina international first caught their eye with his superb displays at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. However, Chelsea beat them to his signature in January 2023. They paid Portuguese side Benfica over €100 million to bring him to London.

Three years on, Real Madrid hope to finally land the 25-year-old. The player is also keen to wear the white shirt at the Bernabéu. Yet Chelsea have blocked the move with a huge demand. The BBC reports that the Blues will only accept offers of £120 million (€138 million).

The West London club see Fernández as vital to their future. He is under contract until 2032, so they feel no pressure to sell. This strong position allows them to ask for such a high fee. At present, Real Madrid are not willing to pay this amount.

The transfer might only happen if the La Liga giants raise funds through sales. Reports suggest Eduardo Camavinga and Gonzalo García could be sold to free up cash. Without these exits, the club cannot afford the South American.

If Chelsea maintain their firm stance, Real Madrid will turn their attention to other targets. The coming weeks will decide if the dream move becomes reality.
