Didier Deschamps has expressed strong dissatisfaction with suggestions that France are guaranteed a place in the 2026 World Cup final. The national team manager made it clear he finds such predictions disrespectful to the competition.

Speaking at a media briefing on Friday, Deschamps explained his frustration. “People are already picturing us playing on July 19th. I do not appreciate that attitude at all,” he stated. The date marks the tournament’s final match.

The coach stressed that his squad must concentrate on immediate challenges. France will begin their World Cup journey in exactly 18 days. Their first opponents are the Lions of Teranga, who they face on June 16th.

After the African champions, France will meet Iraq on June 22nd and Norway on June 26th. These three nations form Group B. Only after navigating this stage can the team consider progressing further.

Kylian Mbappé and his colleagues aim to reach their third successive World Cup final. However, Deschamps insists his players must take each match seriously. “We know France belongs among the elite teams. Yet we must complete every step properly before thinking about the final,” he remarked.

The former midfielder described the World Cup as the pinnacle of professional football. He promised that Les Bleus will fight hard to advance through the tournament. “This event represents the most beautiful and powerful experience in our sport. We will give everything to succeed,” Deschamps concluded.
