AS Roma are ready to make a bold move for Mason Greenwood. The Italian club plan to offer €40 million for the Olympique Marseille forward.
The Giallorossi have more money to spend this summer. They qualified for the Champions League for the first time in seven years. This gives coach Gian Piero Gasperini extra funds to rebuild his attack.
Gasperini struggled with his forward options last season. He said the team lacked players who fit his tactics. The January signing of Donyell Malen from Aston Villa proved how important the right striker can be.
French outlet Le10Sport and Italian paper Gazzetta dello Sport both report Roma’s opening bid. The offer will be €40 million plus extra payments. However, Marseille value the 24-year-old at closer to €50-55 million.
Greenwood plays mainly on the right wing in a three-man attack. He joined Marseille from Manchester United in 2024 for €26 million. The move came after serious off-field problems nearly destroyed his career. Since arriving in France, he has found excellent form.
This season, the former England youth international scored 26 goals. He also provided 11 assists in 45 matches across all competitions.
Manchester United will receive 40 per cent of any transfer fee if Marseille sell Greenwood.
