Joshua Kimmich has praised Germany’s complete performance after the national team secured a commanding 4-0 victory against Finland in a World Cup preparation friendly on Sunday evening.
The Germany captain spoke to the media following the clash. He noted that his side limited Finland to zero clear-cut chances throughout the entire ninety minutes.
“We hardly allowed any opportunities during the full match. We fully deserved this result,” Kimmich stated in remarks carried by Bundesliga.de.
The midfielder highlighted the team’s successful tactical approach. He explained that Germany demonstrated versatility in their attacking play.
“We wanted to apply intense pressure high up the pitch. Deniz Undav scored from that strategy,” Kimmich said.
“We also found the net from a quick counter-attack and from a dead-ball situation. The display had every element.”
Kimmich believes this performance proves the squad possesses strong potential. However, he stressed that the team must unlock this talent when the World Cup begins.
“This group has huge quality. We must bring that ability onto the pitch during the tournament,” he concluded.
