Lille OSC have named Davide Ancelotti as their new manager. The French side confirmed this appointment after Bruno Genesio left the club.
Genesio’s exit came recently. Media reports link him with a move to Marseille. The club wanted a foreign coach to replace him. Both Ancelotti and Thiago Motta were on their shortlist.
The new boss is the son of Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti. He started his career at Paris Saint-Germain as a fitness coach under his father. He later worked as an assistant at Everton from 2019 to 2020. He held the same role during Carlo’s second period at Real Madrid between 2021 and 2025. Before joining Lille, he managed Brazilian club Botafogo.
Lille secured third place in Ligue 1 last season. This means they will play in the Champions League next season. Ancelotti will now lead a team in Europe’s premier club competition. He has signed a contract that runs for two years.
