Chelsea have completed the signing of Katie McCabe from London rivals Arsenal. The 30-year-old joins the club on a free transfer after her contract with the Gunners ended.

The Republic of Ireland international has signed a three-year deal at Stamford Bridge. The contract includes an option for a fourth year.

McCabe spent over a decade at Arsenal. She played 305 matches for the North London club and helped them win the Women’s Super League in 2019. She was also part of the team that lifted the Champions League trophy in 2025.

Several top clubs wanted to sign the left-footed star. Manchester City and teams from America both made offers. However, McCabe decided to remain in London and move to the West London outfit.

Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor was key to convincing McCabe to make the switch. The player said she was impressed by the manager’s plans for the club. McCabe also has family links to Chelsea, as many of her relatives support the Blues.

The Irishwoman follows in the footsteps of her childhood hero Damien Duff. Both players are Irish, left-footed and wore the number 11 shirt.

McCabe said she is excited to start a new chapter. She wants to help the team win trophies and looks forward to playing in front of the fans at Stamford Bridge.
