Portuguese giants FC Porto have entered the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain academy graduate Mathis Jangeal. The 17-year-old attacking midfielder faces an uncertain future at the Parc des Princes as the summer window draws near.
According to reports from L’Équipe, Porto officials have already presented their sporting project to the young Frenchman. They hope to convince him to swap Ligue 1 for the Primeira Liga next season.
Jangeal has spent the majority of this campaign with PSG’s youth setup. He has found the net three times in seven appearances in the UEFA Youth League. He has also featured briefly for the senior side, coming on as a substitute in both domestic league and cup matches.
However, the teenager may follow other academy graduates out of the exit door. French publication Le Parisien suggested in April that Jangeal could leave before establishing himself in the first team.
Porto face stiff competition for his signature. German sides Hamburg and VfB Stuttgart have both confirmed their interest. Meanwhile, domestic rivals SC Braga are also monitoring the situation closely.
The player must now choose his next destination as several clubs across Europe chase his services.
