  • The transfer could see him replace Tanner Tessmann at the Ligue 1 club

French club Olympique Lyonnais are close to completing the signing of Red Bull Salzburg skipper Mads Bidstrup. Reports from Austrian newspaper Salzburger Nachrichten suggest the deal is almost finalised.

The 25-year-old Danish international has been a key player for the Austrian champions. He wears the captain’s armband and has started 34 of 36 matches this campaign. Despite having a contract until 2029, he looks set to leave this summer.

Transfermarkt values the midfielder at €13 million. This fee would add to Salzburg’s recent sales. The club has already raised around €45 million from selling Joane Gadou, Kerim Alajbegovic, and Jannik Schuster.

At Lyon, Bidstrup could fill the gap left by Tanner Tessmann. The American midfielder is likely to exit this summer. He did not make Mauricio Pochettino’s squad for the World Cup and has attracted interest from the Premier League.
