Anthony Lopes will stay in the French top flight. The Portuguese goalkeeper has agreed to join Angers SCO. He leaves FC Nantes when his contract ends next month.
Nantes finished 17th in the table this season. They will play in Ligue 2 next year. However, the 35-year-old will remain in Ligue 1. L’Equipe reports he will sign a two-year deal. The contract includes an option for a third year.
Lopes enjoyed a good season personally despite his team’s struggles. He started all 31 league matches for the French side. He wore the captain’s armband in 17 of those games. He kept six clean sheets. He conceded 51 goals during the season.
The veteran brings vast experience to his new club. He has played 427 matches in the French league. Most of those appearances came for Olympique Lyonnais. Angers needed a new keeper. Hervé Koffi has returned to RC Lens. His loan spell has ended.
