- Second player to leave Lens on free transfer this summer
Allan Saint-Maximin has officially ended his stay at RC Lens. The 29-year-old winger will now move to the United States to play in Major League Soccer.
The French forward joined Lens in February this year. He came from Club America in Mexico after they cancelled his contract. During his short time at the northern French club, he played 13 matches. He scored four goals and set up three more for his team-mates. His efforts helped the club win the Coupe de France. This was the first trophy of his professional career.
Saint-Maximin is not the only player leaving Lens this summer. Adrien Thomasson has also gone. He moved to Stade Rennais on a free transfer. Malang Sarr might follow them out of the door. His contract has finished but the club has not announced his exit yet.
Reports from L’Équipe suggest the former Newcastle United star will sign for Charlotte FC. The American club plays in the MLS. This marks a new chapter for the pacey attacker after his successful half-season in France.
