- Suwarso dreams of hosting Manchester United or Real Madrid at the Stadio Sinigaglia
Como chief Mirwan Suwarso has admitted that signing Federico Chiesa from Liverpool or Andrea Cambiaso from Juventus would break the club’s budget. He also confirmed that Real Madrid will decide the future of young star Nico Paz.
The Italian outfit has spent big money on both their playing staff and facilities. However, after securing a place in Europe’s top tournament, further improvements are necessary. The Stadio Sinigaglia needs major rebuilding work to meet Champions League standards.
Speaking to Tuttomercatoweb at the Festival della Serie A in Parma, Suwarso expressed confidence about playing European matches at home. “Many doubted this could happen, but I am sure we will host our Champions League matches at the Stadio Sinigaglia,” he stated.
The president reflected on their qualification. “It was a fantastic achievement, but we stayed calm rather than celebrating wildly. We wanted to understand exactly what we had accomplished. Coach Cesc Fàbregas always thinks we can win every match, and we share that belief.”
When asked which big clubs he would welcome to Como, Suwarso named two giants. “Any top team would be amazing, but hosting Manchester United or Real Madrid here would be a dream come true,” he said.
The club needs new signings, with links to Liverpool winger Chiesa and Juventus defender Cambiaso. However, Suwarso explained their financial limits. “We are scouting many athletes, but those particular players cost more than we can afford right now,” he explained.
Regarding their top young player Nico Paz, Suwarso accepted that Real Madrid hold all the power. The Spanish club can re-sign the Argentine midfielder for €9 million this year, or €11 million in 2027. “Nico’s future depends entirely on Real Madrid, so we must wait. We have not talked to them recently, but if chances arise, we will act in Como’s best interests,” he noted.
