Cape Verde have made history in their first-ever FIFA World Cup match. The African nation held Spain to a 0-0 draw on Tuesday. The result marks a remarkable start for the tournament debutants.

The Cape Verde defence worked very hard throughout the clash. They stopped many Spanish attacks to secure a valuable point in Group H. Spanish fans may worry about this slow start from their team, who entered the tournament as favourites.

In the same group, Saudi Arabia also claimed an important point. They drew with Uruguay despite facing heavy pressure. Marcelo Bielsa watched from the dugout as his Uruguay side missed several clear chances in the second half.

Belgium needed their star striker to avoid defeat in Group G. Romelu Lukaku found the net to help Belgium secure a draw against Egypt. The match ended with both teams sharing the points.

New Zealand also faced disappointment in Group G. Elijah Just scored two goals to give the Oceania side the lead twice against Iran. However, they could not maintain their advantage and the match finished level.

These results came during the opening round of group stage matches. The tournament continues with more fixtures on Tuesday.
