Udinese have officially completed the signing of defender Mergim Vojvoda from Como, the club confirmed over the weekend. The agreement was finalised after the clubs concluded negotiations in recent days, marking another shift in the Serie A transfer market.
The Kosovo international joins the Friulani in a deal worth an initial €1.3 million, with a further €300,000 available in performance-related bonuses. The 31-year-old has signed a contract running until June 2028, with the option for an additional season should certain conditions be met.
Champions League qualifier departs
Vojvoda arrives in Udine having played a key role in Como’s remarkable campaign that ended with qualification for the Champions League. The versatile defender made 45 competitive appearances for the Lombardy club across all competitions, contributing three goals and five assists from defensive positions.
His stay at Como proved brief but decisive. The club paid €2 million to sign him from Torino in February 2025 specifically to bolster their push for European qualification during the winter transfer window. Having achieved that historic objective, Vojvoda now departs before Como embark on their inaugural Champions League campaign.
Established Serie A pedigree
This transfer represents Vojvoda’s third spell at a Serie A club. He initially moved to Italian football in the summer of 2020 when Torino acquired him from Belgian side Standard Liege, establishing himself in the league over several seasons before the switch to Como.
Primarily deployed as a right-back, the defender offers valuable tactical flexibility that allows managers to utilise him in central defence or in more advanced wide roles. This adaptability will serve Udinese as they look to strengthen their defensive options and squad depth ahead of the new season.
The deal leaves Como with defensive reinforcements to address despite their European success, while Udinese secure an experienced international with proven top-flight credentials and recent Champions League qualification experience.
