VfL Wolfsburg are on the verge of completing the signing of Muhammed Damar from TSG Hoffenheim, with the 22-year-old expected to undergo a medical within the next 72 hours.
The Lower Saxony club have reached a full agreement with Hoffenheim regarding the transfer. The deal is structured at approximately €6 million including performance-related bonuses, with €5 million understood to be almost guaranteed. The arrangement also includes a sell-on clause benefiting Hoffenheim should Wolfsburg profit from any future transfer.
Damar’s imminent arrival marks a significant piece of business for Wolfsburg as they strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign. The attacker has been identified as a key target to bolster the club’s options, with the medical at the Autostadt club set to finalise the transfer.
Leverkusen secure Erlein for long-term project
While Damar prepares for an immediate switch to Wolfsburg, Hoffenheim youth product Luca Erlein is set for a move to Bayer Leverkusen. The Rhineland club have identified the 19-year-old right-back as a prospect for the future.
Erlein is expected to sign a contract with Leverkusen running until the summer of 2031, committing his long-term future to the club. However, the teenager is unlikely to feature for the senior side immediately. Instead, he will likely gain senior experience via a loan spell with a second-tier German outfit during the coming season.
Hoffenheim reshape squad
The potential departures of Damar and Erlein represent the latest exits from Hoffenheim as the club continues to reshape its roster. While Damar’s transfer appears imminent pending medical clearance, Erlein’s move to Leverkusen follows a different trajectory, involving gradual integration through the loan system.
