The procedure addresses a serious injury the 23-year-old Germany international suffered last year. Consequently, he will miss the opening phase of the German champions’ pre-season preparations.
According to reports, Musiala personally elected to have the operation now rather than delay until the winter break. This decision ensures the hardware removal does not disrupt the competitive season ahead. The timing allows him to resolve the long-term foot issues that affected his previous campaign without missing crucial league fixtures. He is expected to resume his rehabilitation programme at Bayern’s Säbener Straße training complex on July 31 after being granted a few extra days of holiday.
Structured August return
The midfielder has established a clear recovery schedule. Musiala hopes to rejoin team training on August 8 as he builds towards full competitive fitness.
His primary objective is to be available for Bayern’s first competitive fixture of the season, the DFL-Supercup against Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park on August 22. This annual encounter represents the traditional curtain-raiser to the German football calendar.
Bundesliga defence begins
Should he miss the Dortmund encounter, the subsequent league fixture offers a more realistic opportunity for his return. Bayern begin their Bundesliga title defence against VfB Stuttgart on August 28, six days after the Supercup.
The plate was originally inserted during surgery following last year’s injury. Its removal should eliminate the persistent foot complications that troubled Musiala throughout the previous campaign.
