Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund has confirmed that Bara Sapoko Ndiaye will join the club on a permanent basis following a six-month loan spell. The 18-year-old Senegal international is scheduled to undergo medical assessments before integrating with Vincent Kompany’s first-team squad for the upcoming campaign.
Speaking to BILD on Saturday, Freund stated that while “the final details still need to be clarified,” he expects the defender to commence the season with the reigning Bundesliga champions. The teenager faces “performance tests on Monday” ahead of joining the pre-season training camp in Tegernsee.
Although Bayern have not officially confirmed the contract duration, respected transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reports that Ndiaye will sign a long-term deal running until 2031. An official announcement from the club is anticipated early next week.
From Loan Prospect to Permanent Squad Member
Ndiaye initially arrived from the Senegalese side—variously reported as Gambino Stars or Gambinos Stars—on a temporary basis during the second half of the 2025/26 campaign. He made four Bundesliga appearances as Kompany rotated his squad during the closing stages of the season.
Bayern secured the Meisterschale with several matches remaining, allowing the manager to blood younger talent alongside established stars. Ndiaye seized these opportunities to impress the coaching staff, convincing the club to convert his temporary stay into a permanent arrangement before the new season begins.
International Pedigree
Despite his youth, the centre-back has already experienced senior international tournament football at the highest level. He represented Senegal at the World Cup, where the Teranga Lions exited at the Round of 32 stage following a defeat to Belgium.
His involvement with the national team at just 18 years of age underlines his potential and explains why Bayern have moved decisively to secure his long-term future despite the relatively brief initial evaluation period.
Pre-Season Integration
The confirmation of the permanent transfer comes as Bayern begin their preparations for the 2026/27 campaign. The reigning champions commenced their pre-season schedule with a 2-1 friendly defeat to Wehen Wiesbaden.
Ndiaye is expected to link up with his new teammates immediately after completing the necessary formalities. The training camp in Tegernsee will provide the first opportunity for Kompany to assess the defender alongside his senior squad ahead of the competitive season restart.
