Agent Beppe Riso has revealed that Roma defender Gianluca Mancini turned down bigger offers to stay at the club, while admitting midfielder Davide Frattesi faces an uncertain future at Inter Milan.
The representative, who looks after both Italy internationals, offered a candid assessment of his clients’ contrasting situations after meeting with officials. Riso admitted he had actively tried to sell Mancini this summer, but the centre-back refused to leave. Instead, Mancini signed a new contract with Roma despite receiving more money from other clubs, including bids from within Serie A.
“I wanted to sell Mancini,” Riso told reporters including FCInter1908. “He received important offers with more money, but wanted to remain at Roma at all costs.”
The agent explained that Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini and director Tony D’Amico helped convince Mancini to stay. However, the defender’s choice was mainly about his bond with the supporters. “Mancini didn’t want to go,” Riso said. “He refused everything for Roma. It is a gesture that he does for the fans. I told him, ‘you’re crazy’. But he’s happy, even though he could’ve earned more.”
Frattesi future hinges on Inter meeting
Meanwhile, Frattesi’s situation at Inter remains unresolved. The 25-year-old has struggled to get regular playing time under both former coach Simone Inzaghi and current boss Cristian Chivu. He has been linked with moves during previous transfer windows but has remained at the San Siro.
Riso confirmed he will meet Inter officials soon to determine the midfielder’s fate. “I still need to meet with Inter,” the agent explained. “Then we’ll know. It is a developing situation, and he has some things to consider.”
Juventus and Nottingham Forest have both been linked with Frattesi. A move to Turin would keep him in Serie A, while Forest could offer Premier League football. However, Riso refused to discuss specific clubs before speaking with Inter. “I won’t discuss these matters before speaking with Inter,” he stated. “It wouldn’t be right.”
He added: “He scores big goals and has a big heart. I’ll talk with Inter and then we’ll see.”
The two players have taken different paths this summer. Mancini has committed to Roma despite the club not playing in European competitions next season. Frattesi must now decide whether to continue battling for his place at Inter or seek opportunities elsewhere to secure regular first-team football.
Riso’s upcoming meeting with Inter officials is expected to prove decisive in determining whether Frattesi stays in Milan or moves on before the transfer window closes.
