Borussia Dortmund have confirmed the signing of Giannis Konstantelias from PAOK FC, securing the services of the Greek attacking midfielder on a long-term deal. The 23-year-old has signed a contract that runs until 2031.

The Greece international arrives for an initial fee of €26 million, with performance-related bonuses potentially adding a further €6 million to the total package. The deal also includes a 15 per cent sell-on clause for PAOK.

Official reaction

Managing director for sport Lars Ricken welcomed the capture and explained the club’s interest in the player. “We are very pleased that we have convinced Giannis, a talented attacking player, to join us. We have been following his development for quite some time,” he said.

Ricken highlighted the balance between youth and experience that Konstantelias offers, noting: “At 23, he is still a relatively young player, while at the same time already bringing a great deal of experience with him.”

The BVB sporting director also extended gratitude to the selling club, stating: “We would also like to thank the people responsible at PAOK for the consistently respectful and constructive discussions surrounding Giannis’ transfer.”

Konstantelias expressed his enthusiasm for the move, saying: “I’m very happy to be playing for Borussia Dortmund in the future. BVB is a big club and I will give everything to be successful here.”

Transfer structure

The agreement ties the attacking midfielder to Dortmund until 2031, with the financial package reflecting the club’s significant investment. Should all bonuses be triggered, the total fee would reach €32 million.

The inclusion of a 15 per cent sell-on clause ensures PAOK will benefit financially from any future transfer involving the player.
