Osnabrück secured a convincing 3-1 victory over Braunschweig in a 2. Bundesliga encounter at the Bremer Brücke, witnessed by 15,741 supporters. After a goalless first half, Osnabrück found their rhythm after the interval, with Daniel Kofi Kyereh, Bjarke Jacobsen, and Robin Meißner all finding the net. Yann Sturm scored a late consolation goal for Braunschweig.
Second-Half Breakthrough
The opening half saw a cautious approach from both sides, with neither team able to break the deadlock. Braunschweig had the best opportunity of the first 45 minutes when Andi Hoti struck the post in the 21st minute, a moment that saw Osnabrück fortunate not to fall behind. The hosts, meanwhile, struggled to create significant chances, registering their first shot on target only in the 41st minute, ensuring the teams went into half-time level at 0-0.
Osnabrück head coach Timo Schultz made a decisive change at the start of the second half, introducing Daniel Kofi Kyereh. The substitute made an immediate impact, opening the scoring just seven minutes after the restart. Following a corner delivered by Beck, Bjarke Jacobsen met the cross with a header. Braunschweig goalkeeper Ron-Thorben Hoffmann could only parry the initial effort, allowing Kyereh to react quickest and hammer the rebound into the roof of the net.
Sealing the Victory
Kyereh nearly added a second goal shortly after, as Osnabrück continued to press, but Hoffmann managed to clear the danger. Braunschweig attempted to respond with substitutions, bringing on Junior Zé and Jan Urbich in the 61st minute. However, Osnabrück maintained their attacking threat and doubled their advantage in the 76th minute when Bjarke Jacobsen found the back of the net, giving the hosts a comfortable two-goal cushion.
The result was effectively put beyond doubt just four minutes later. Robin Meißner struck in the 80th minute to make it 3-0, solidifying Osnabrück’s control of the match. Braunschweig did manage to pull one goal back in the 88th minute through Yann Sturm, reducing the deficit to 3-1. However, there was no late comeback, as Osnabrück comfortably saw out the remaining minutes to claim a deserved three points.
