Serie B club Juve Stabia has been handed an additional two-point deduction, bringing their total penalty for the season to four points. This latest sanction follows a fraud investigation involving the club’s patron, Alfredo Guerri.
The deduction means Juve Stabia, who had already been docked two points before the season commenced due to separate financial irregularities, now faces a significant challenge in the league. Following these penalties, the team was left with one point after five rounds of matches.
Fraud Investigation Details
The fraud investigation centres on alleged irregularities in the generation of credits tied to Italy’s Superbonus 110% taxation law. Naples authorities seized €153 million from two of Guerri’s building companies as part of the probe. This follows an earlier seizure of €14.5 million in July. The investigation concerns claims that these companies allegedly took tax credits for work that was either not completed or not carried out at all between 2021 and 2024.
Alfredo Guerri had only taken over control of Juve Stabia two months prior to these developments. While the investigation is focused on Guerri’s business activities and not directly on Juve Stabia as a club, it has had direct consequences for the team. The documents presented by the club in April, which were intended to confirm their financial stability for registration in the Serie B 2026/27 season, were subsequently deemed invalid due to the ongoing investigation. This invalidity directly led to the new two-point penalty.
Club Leadership Changes
In response to the unfolding situation, a new board of directors has been appointed at Juve Stabia. Alfonso Morrone has been named as the new President of the club.
